Aids to travel, useful to everyone. A 1911 London Underground map and rather funnily an annotation is hand written on the cover “very useful.” Not only an underground map but a pamphlet full of smaller maps for such things as West end clubs, West end restaurants, West end stores and shops places of interest andmore. It is also full of adverts. All this for the Capital of the world of the time, 1911.

London Underground in 1911 was 48 years old and it is interesting to see how extensive the network had developed and when compared to the other maps in this on-line exhibition how it would continue to grow even to this day, such as the biggest European project, Crossrail.
